Let that sink in for a moment: “feeding the minds that feed the world.”
People need food. They need healthier, cheaper, tastier food that can be made from sustainable products with formulas that don’t rely on hard-to-obtain ingredients or expensive processes. World hunger, sustainability and technological advances are all key issues that rely somewhat on advances in the food industry.
What does this have to do with IFT?
IFT recognizes that for creative food solutions to flourish, there needs to be collaboration, access to innovative products, and opportunities to learn new concepts you can take back to your workplace. So, they host their event with that in mind.
This year, around 1,200 exhibiting companies and thousands of industry professionals, experts, and visionaries will gather to talk shop and show off their knowledge and equipment. Attendees can see the newest and brightest food technology, learn about the latest research and insights, network with peers, and advance their professional development.
With the food industry in flux with a flood of new products and startups, this is the perfect meeting ground for the people who want to be a part of the grander scope of their industry.
3 things you can’t miss at IFT18
With a 100 sessions and thousands of booths, there’s a lot to see and do. Here are just three highlights:
IFTNEXT: Last year’s hit programing is back, with even more presentations, discussions, and demonstrations on food technology and innovation! If you’re looking for creative, groundbreaking technologies and discovering why they matter, this is for you. Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, and an artificial nose that “smells” food products are just a few examples.
Food Disruption Challenge Pitch Event: This new event will have six finalists pitching their innovative start up idea to a panel and Shark Tank’s Daymond John. The winner gets a $25,000 cash prize, and there’s $5,000 people’s choice award. The finalists have gone through several rounds of competition since since January.
Alternative Proteins Day: that’s right, a whole day of programing devoted to discussion and learning about the solutions for alternative proteins, the future of these ingredients, and what consumers are looking for.
